I have always been a fan of boutique hotels, which offer a unique personal memorable experience, in addition to a usual excitement of travelling to a new destination. Therefore, after doing some research while preparing for my last few days in Kuala Lumpur, I decided to try out The Journal Hotel, which promised a modern retro-inspired accommodation within steps of the most important sights of my beloved Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
The experience of staying at The Journal was like another sight within the magnificent Malaysian capital itself. My room had all the comfort that I could wish for and was beautifully decorated with a large painting right above a huge comfy bed – such a treat for an art lover. There was even a lovely welcome gift with a note and delicious fruit candy on arrival! Most importantly, I could see the famous Petronas Towers behind the busy streets of the city from the window of my room (which has got the most beautiful city views at night…)
In the afternoon, I headed to the rooftop Swimming Club, which was a trendy swimming pool and a lounge area, so perfect for a refreshing swim at the hotel’s infinity pool (with amazing views of Kuala Lumpur!) and a drink at the bar. This place is the best to enjoy a fresh tropical juice after a day of exploring and even meet some interesting travelers as well as locals. This rooftop area seemed to attract a huge amount of very fashionable crowds of all ages, which was a no wonder – it was a really cool spot for images due to its ultra-trendy infinity pool and a magnificent panorama of the city.
Anyone who spent time visiting the capital of Malaysia is likely to understand the constant struggle to find quality healthy meals in the city centre. I was therefore really glad to discover the availability of tasty and healthy meals at The Journal, all day long. I really enjoyed plentiful breakfasts and lunches at Kedai Kopi Journal café, always topped up with healthy juices and fresh coffee (so good!). In the evenings, there was a variety of hot and cold dishes available at the rooftop The Terrace Bar & Grill, adjacent to the swimming pool area.
All in all, I felt like at home at The Journal during my few days’ stay and I wish to return on my next visit to Malaysia.
