Balinese Culture At Desa Visesa - Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

‘Desa Visesa presents a wealth of activities that reflect the authentic lifestyle and heritage traditions of a Balinese village.’

My recent visit to Ubud, the capital of the culture and tradition in Bali, was made special not only to the number of interesting sights which I visited, but by the magic atmosphere of Visesa Ubud Resort. Little did I know that this resort would be so much more than a quality accommodation, but rather an adventure on its own, when I was booking my accommodation in Ubud.

Visesa Ubud Resort was a real VIP experience with great service from the beginning. We were offered a welcome drink, followed a traditional blessing ceremony, which made it a sophisticated experience right away. I even received a Sacred Balinese bracelet, which is locally called Tridatu, as a gift. I still wear my Tridatu from Visesa, which is my special Balinese souvenir!

It was not long before I learnead that my suite was ready and I was ready to move in, after a quick tour around the resort given by the kind employees. The suite was so spacious and beautifully decorated and, most importantly, had a view of the greenery, which Ubud is so well-known for, from my balcony. My suite had everything I needed, including tea/coffee making supplies, delicious fresh fruit platter each day, a comfy robe and a pair of slippers, and even an open-air jacuzzi!

After settling in, I went outside to explore the area of the resort, which was really impressive. The area of the resort did not feel like a hotel at all, but more like a traditional Indonesian village, which you would only see in a movie.

I was really impressed to learn the concept of this luxury Resort, which encouraged eco-friendly practices and Permaculture, which is ‘the development of agricultural ecosystems according to rules that aim at farming land in complete sustainability and self-sufficiency’. The resort has got more than two hectares of land of organic culture grown exclusively with natural compost. I was even offered to witness the farmers plough rice fields, join the duck egg collecting early morning and even have a taste of farming, which they called Bertani.

Visesa Resort Ubud offered a very extensive selection of meals, afternoon tea and a wide selection of beverages for every taste. Breakfast was really impressive, with a huge selection of healthy meals and guilty treats, something for a guest from any part of the world. I also tried out two restaurants of different concept during my stay: Waring Tani (perfect for lunch), which offered traditional village dining experience (with local treats and veggies grown right here at the resort fields!) and Lumbung (tasty dinners), which offered quality Indonesian food in elegant environment. Both offered delicious meals and everything was freshly prepared. I actually did not leave the property during my entire stay because I enjoyed myself so much!
