Griya Santrian - Sanur, Bali, Indonesia

September 9, 2019

Finally back in Bali and I started my journey visiting for the second time Sanur and the Santrian family.

Probably it sounds familiar to you this name because Griya Santrian is one of the first hotel built in Bali Island. Even tho it's 47 years old, the fascinating balinese style make this place authentic. In fact now days i consider Sanur one of the most beautiful place in Bali because it's not overcrowded by tourists and still keep its origins.

Our room was fresh and well designed. It looks like it was refurbished not so long time ago and the best was that it was spacious which is hard to believe since all new modern hotels have really tiny rooms.

It was already dinner time after checking in and we have decided to try the speciality Bali Modulang which is a shared platter of authentic Balinese dishes such as satay (tuna skewers) and for drink an amazing and tasty mocktail called Melone Sensation.

The food was delicious and well cooked, service was excellent and the restaurant just in front of the beach had the right atmosphere to enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day after we had our first breakfast here, a wide range selection of pastries, fruits, yogurt, local food and international dishes and eggs station to choose your favorite egg-style.

Then we moved to the beach where beautiful and new sunbeds were waiting for us and we have enjoyed a bit of sunbathing.

We spent all day on the beach and had lunch at starfish where you could also try delicious sushi platters.

The day after early morning we started our cooking class! Yes it was time to learn how to cook a delicious spicy pork Satay. Me and my girlfriend went with the chef to the local market to buy all the ingredients needed, it was a great experience to be there and see how locals do grocery shopping.

Then we moved back to the hotel and started our cooking class which took approximately 3 hours, last not least we had for lunch what we have been preparing and must admit as first time cooking balinese the food was delicious. We also received a certificate of knowledge.

In the afternoon we have been retreating ourselves with an amazing Royal SPA treatment of 2 and half hours which included feet wash, body scrub, flower bath and finally an amazing relaxing massage. The staff was kind and really professional, probably this has been one of the best treatment ever had in my life.

Time flew and we had to leave for our next adventure but for sure Griya Santrian will be my first choice if considering to visit Sanur.
